The National Trust
Matthew is a well-known broadcaster and ecologist with a particular passion for butterflies. He has worked in the UK nature conservation movement since the mid-1970s. Since 1991, he has helped the National Trust realise its enormous potential in nature conservation. A key part of this is strengthening people’s relationships with nature, in mind and matter, in town and country.
He has made a number of appearances on BBC Radio. His TV credits include Countryfile, The One Show, Springwatch, Great British Summer, and Butterflies – A Very British Obsession.
Matthew writes for The Times Nature Notebook column and last year published In Pursuit of Butterflies, an account of his life-long passion with nature.
